Happy Boxing Day!

I hope everyone out there had a lovely Christmas yesterday.

Aaron and I spent a nice day with the family in Ajax and both made out quite well in the gift area. Aaron, the family and Jenn all chipped in to get me a pretty little iMac to replace my dying 8 year old computer that was performing like a cow in a marathon. (I'm not quite sure what that means, but I'm sure a cow wouldn't do so well in a marathon...). Aaron got a 22" widescreen monitor for his computer from Jenn, my parents and I, so he's been playing with that all day as I've been sorting out "Mac-y". In addition to the large items, we both surprisingly ended up with a number of other lovely items, clothing, gift certificates, reading materials, etc.

It wasn't just Aaron and I that got spoiled. The animals wound up with quite a few treats and toys as well. Cali was introduced to Turkey and seemed to enjoy it very much! The kitties got a nibble of turkey today as well and seemed just as pleased. We enjoyed it too!

It's sad to think that in 12 hours I'll be back at the office. There just isn't enough time off to enjoy the holidays. Only 2 more days this week before the weekend, but we both have to work on New Year's Eve all day :( BOO!

Wishing everyone and their families a Happy New Year!

p.s. Juno seems to be in wide release now - looking forward to seeing it this weekend. I'm very excited!

BANG!

So this morning much to my surprise and excitement, Cali played dead!

We learned it on Monday in class and she was getting there with much guidance, but still wiggling around and munching on her treat - therefore obviously not dead. This morning just as I ran out of my handful of puppy crack (dehydrated chicken), she lay still and didn't move. It was a very touching moment!

With any luck, she'll get better with distractions around and we can showcase her new trick to friends and family over the holidays. I'm so very happy!

In not so good news, the litter that Jenny & Mike were waiting for only produced 1 puppy and they seem to be second on the waiting list. I can only imagine how upsetting that must be, as I am upset and it wasn't even my new baby. Worst case, they'll have luck with a new litter in May. Just think - at least they won't have to do the bathroom breaks in the bad weather. Cali gets a bit confused by the snow about where to go and it's brutal trying to train her to walk nicely when the wind is bitter. I can't wait for spring already!

Ok - I'm tired - baking until 11 last night...probably the same tonight...I think I have a problem! ;)

Happy holidays!

NEW POST!!

2 months of waiting is long enough I suppose...

So what's new? Cali is now 5 months old, has completed 6 out of 8 puppy training classes (last night was a good night and we're now learning roll over and play dead!)

Cali had a little set back over the weekend when we found that she had roundworm :( This is apparently common in puppies, and she probably picked it up outside somehow probably just before the frost took care of the little buggers outside. She seems to be doing well after her first dose of deworming meds. Fun stuff!

Aaron's birthday was on Sunday and we got snowed in. The pizza guy had to walk our delivery order down the street because they couldn't drive, but they were the only option offering delivery in the poor conditions. So we're going to have a re-do this weekend to go for lunch/dinner and a movie to celebrate.

Speaking of celebrations...one week until the big guy comes down the chimney - that's Santa, or so I hope!

AND - This Friday - MERRY FICKING CHRISTMAS! That's right - it's time again for the annual Friday before Christmas social gathering at our place. I've already got some food prepared, but the next few days are going to be full of baking, cooking and cleaning to get the place up to standards for the festivities. I hope the weather holds out for everyone's transportation safety.

Anyway - back to work for now.

Best wishes go out to everyone. And a special good luck for Jenny & Mike's puppy that was due yesterday!

Peace, C.R.
