Week 1
We're closing in on the end of week 1 of the organic produce basket. So far, I'm pretty impressed. It looks as though I may have to suplement a few fruits and some salad fixins throughout the week, but in general, I am quite happy. On Monday, we received the following:
3 Gold Blush Apples - large and VERY tasty
1 lb. bananas - fair trade - quite flavourful
3 Cara Cara oranges - don't taste like a typical orange, colouring closer to a blood orange, but interesting and tasty
2 yellow onions - looking forward to using this weekend, but they smell good
2 lbs. red potatoes - also looking forward to using this weekend - Irish stew anyone?
1 avocado - pretty good once I figured out what I should do with it
1 lemon - MUCH better than the crappy ones you buy in the grocery store - it was soo juicy!
1 tomato - lovely flavour I haven't tasted in a while
2 small zucchini - will cook up this weekend
This coming week's basket is featuring:
3 Braeburn Apples (BC)
1 lb Bananas (Fair-trade)
1 lb Carrots
1/2 lb Baby Bella Mushrooms (ONTARIO)
1 pt. Grape Tomatoes
1 Spinach
1 Boston Green Lettuce (ONTARIO)
2 Bartlett Pears

Hope everyone has a good weekend - enjoy the break from the cold for a day or two :)
